Wolverhampton’s Drug & Alcohol Service User Involvement Team Est Feb 2007.
SUIT are a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), providing support for people struggling with, or in recovery from drugs & alcohol in Wolverhampton.
About Us:
We believe that vulnerable people with substance use problems should be treated fairly, have access to services that focus on recovery, and should be able to engage with service providers that will support holistic measures of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, both through the criminal justice system and within the community. At SUIT, we provide advocacy and support for people experiencing stigma and complex vulnerabilities from challenges surrounding substance use. SUIT has become a platform service for some of the most vulnerable people in Wolverhampton. Volunteers and staff all come with lived experience and work to reduce barriers between clients accessing healthcare, welfare, employment, and in criminal justice settings, and improve recovery outcomes.
SUIT were recognised as a European Model of Good Practice by the Street Support Project (EU) in January 2019 and by the Betred (EU) in 2018. SUIT received a Queens Award for Voluntary Services in 2014 for "training recovering addicts and empowering those that are suffering from addiction to move forward with their lives, contributing positively to themselves and society as a whole", signed by Her Majesty the Queen.
SUIT are proud to be a member of the College of Lived Experience (CLERO), and a recognised national LERO, meaning we connect with other lived experience organisations, and work to an important set of standards surrounding peer-led support.
